Amazing hotel. Excellent value. Beautiful roof deck restaurant and bar

Previously we had stayed at the royal continental next door but they were full so we stumbled on the excelsior. What a great score. Super friendly staff. Amazing roof top bar. Excellent breakfast. They upgraded us a a beautiful sea view room. The rooms were very romantic even though this was not a romantic vacation. Definitely five stars. Ed would very much stay here again....

4 star is for location and room quality (three roomed suite) and the sea view.
Suite felt quite luxurious with fabric on walls and big curtain swaggers!
Had to call and ask for milk in the room, next day no coffee or normal tea bags so not good for in room facilities
Soulless public areas and lobby bar
Dingy gym area, no pool/spa stuff...

The opulent Excelsior on the Borgo Marinaro waterfront opposite the Castel dellOvo, is splendid and its corner position means that the hotel has a double aspect onto both Vesuvius and the castle.
Special mention to Alexandro at the front desk which had gone about & beyond to accomodate our needs & arranged a fabulous birthday cake for my husband.
Sandro always greeted us with a smile at the reception area & handle...

The location of this hotel is wonderful and the room was quite large. Those are the two best things I can say about this hotel. When we arrived the elevators were not working so me and my family had to climb up 5 flights of stairs. The internet never worked the whole time we were there. The electronic shades went up but never came down. For the lights - the card was in the necessary slot -however, the light...
