For context, this was my first visit, and as a local who does staycations regularly in New York City, I came in with informed expectations.

I am a Bonvoy platinum level traveler who has already spent 50 nights this year in Marriott properties.
This hotel has major problems. Many of the rooms have broken air conditioning, resulting in you having to switch rooms.
They almost never upgrade you to a better room no matter your status.
Got checked into a room that had no towels. Took over 90 minutes, 3 phone calls and a trip to the lobby for resolution. ...

I recently stayed here with my husband on the prepaid non-refundable rate, and was informed at check-in that we owed the full balance for the stay. I told them that I prepaid, and the employee conferred with another front-desk staff who said to just take a card for incidentals.
