First off, this is a 3 star hotel masquerading as a 4 star hotel - purely because it has a rooftop pool and groundfloor spa. To manage expectations, the pool is tiny (it would fit two people swimming lengths, side by side) and the spa is a whirlpool and tiny hamman, with treatment room.

We have just returned home from 11 nights in a deluxe room on the 7th floor, which we used to explore Nice and the surrounding Cote D'Azur region. Our room was very clean, comfortable, well equipped and spacious with a small terrace area with seating and from which you could see the sea. The staff and service were first class. We had a very comfortable stay in this excellently located hotel in the Musicians District close to the sea front and the railway station.
We were upgraded to a premium room with a little balcony , lots of wardrobe and drawer space and a very comfortable bed.

The hotel is in a fabulous location, only blocks from the beach and close to the train station where we arrived.
However, I booked a Classic for myself and my two teenagers for a week in the summer and we were given a room on the second floor. The room was incredibly tired with brown carpets, very dark wood fittings and poor air con. My son (16) thought it reminded him of the horror movies he watches! Arriving aft...

Was worried after reading some of the negative reviews on here but there was no need. Went to Nice for 3 nights as a group of old school friends and had the best time.
Hôtel Splendid is in a great location. It is close to the train station and beach. The rooms were slightly dated but clean and spacious with a balcony for some outside space.
