1K Paris Friendly Staff, Prime Location, But Needs Refreshing

We recently stayed at 1K Paris and found it to be a mixed experience. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful, providing wonderful restaurant recommendations and clear train directions. I have to say this was a great first impression.

Great Value and Location on the Edge of Le Marais

If you're planning a weeklong trip to Paris with no idea where to stay, you should consider staying here, especially if Le Marais is your neighborhood of choice. It was ours because we prefer a looser vibe than the other famous areas provide. All the disenfranchised hipsters appear to hang out in these parts, e.g., the gays, so we felt at home. We stayed here for 4 nights at beginning of August. The hotel is located in the lovely area of Le Marais. Very convenient to subway, great restaurants and local places. Great to walk the district. When we arrived on August 1st the lady at reception was quite rude and was just too busy to deal with us and answer some basic inquiries. We were given a nice room but the safe was broken. AVOID!
By far the worst hotel experience I have ever had, don't let the 4 star rating fool you, this is a poorly maintained and run down hotel.
Air conditioning did not work (booked a 'decent' hotel because of 30+ degrees forecast), only to be left sweating through the night. The hotel's initial insulting response to this issue was to deliver a pedestal fan to my room.

The worst experience we ever had at a-4 star hotel

While we were out for lunch, leaving our room securely locked, we returned to find that the hotels cleaning staff had deliberately vandalized our personal belongings including creams, toothpaste, perfumes, hair wax, and other toiletries. Furthermore, liquid soap had been poured into our drinking water bottles. Additionally, a mobile phone charger and several of my wife's garments were stolen from the room.
