Four Nights at Grand Poet Hotel

My wife and I have recently returned from a 4 night stay in this hotel. We were given room 518, which is very spacious with a view over the park. It was in a quiet location, we barely heard another guest or door shutting.
The hotel location is ideal for all central locations, the old town is a 5 minute walk across the park.

I stayed at the Grand Poet for five days during October and it was one of the best city hotel experiences I have had.
I had requested a quiet room and when I checked in this had been noted, so often this proves not to be the case. I had a really good nights sleep every night.

Good but try and get a room with more natural light/a park view

I was on a business trip and stayed two nights. The hotel is good but I'd mark it down for two reasons.
1) My room was very (very) dark - the window simply looked against another wall/internal aspect. This meant that I didn't want to work in the room - I just wanted somewhere with natural light. (One of the walls was also oddly thin - I could hear every word of a guy in the next room doing a business call... at 5am)...

We stayed for 3 nights & were in a dark room with no view at the back of the hotel. If you want a view of the park, better to select that option & pay for it.
Location a 10 minute walk from the Old Town through the lovely park.
Breakfast good & the room itself was comfortable with a bath tub and desk but surprisingly little storage space.
If its your first visit to Riga, choose a hotel in the Old Town instead....

Veritably a grand hotel!
We had a very comfortable room with a spacious bathroom.
Breakfast was not included in our tariff, but offered for 25/person (!).
We chose to have breakfast at a bakery a 10-min walk away (Milka).
Tea/coffer facilities & minibar provided.
The hotel restaurant & bar looked very nice, as you'd expect, but were a little too expensive for our budget. Though we did have an aperitif in their open ...
