My partner and I had an 8-night stay booked at this hotel, but could not stay for 1 night. It was cold, miserable, smelt damp and felt 'bad' - in fact, it was so bad we checked out and left.
The room was bare and basic, with 2 what I would call old conference chairs in the room. The mattress was thin and very hard & that was just from sitting on it. The walls were marked, and the whole place could do with a spruce ...

This place is full of culture, rooms a little dated but acceptable for what we wanted. Staff on reception were brilliant, every one of them! Only let down was the breakfast, stale bread but again the staff were good...

If you want modern rooms with coffee machines and big screen tvs then stay at the Hilton. If you want to stay in an amazing building thats multi centuries old then this is for you.
We got the train from the airport and it was a 15/20 minute walk to the hotel which was fine.

The rooms were clean but basic. The breakfast was very basic. Bread, cheese , ham turkey, cherry cake, tubs of butter jam and honey. Tea coffee orange juice....
