We have stayed at the Mark Hopkins many times. This time we are giving it four out of five stars even though some of you might think this is a little crazy Its a beautiful hotel and normally always a five star experience. A San Francisco landmark but definitely now faded glory. Heavy old fashioned furniture, tiny bathrooms, dated carpets and decor. All very clean etc but definitely past its best. Tried to go for a drink at the Top of the Mark and they wanted a cover charge and had a waiting list - didn't stay as we just wanted a nightcap which was a shame and we came here 30 years ago on our honeymoon and it was fabulous. My husband, two kids, and I stayed at the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins for four nights in November of 2025. My husband had a conference downtown, so we came along to explore the city, but I honestly wish we had chosen a different hotel. Pros- I felt safe in and around the hotel, which is a big deal for us. Nice old venerable SF hotel. Room was small but comfortable. Service in the Top of the Mark was great and Sal, the doorman, is a rockstar! Only negative was internet. It was really bad in the room we were in (#1434) and another reviewer also mentioned it. Future guests may want to ask about that before accepting a room when checking in....
