Vienna is an expensive city and Ambassador is no exception. At 300 per night, excluding breakfast, expectations are high, especially when it sells itself as a six-star Grand Old Lady.
It delivers to a large degree : its location could not be better between shopping street Kärntner Straße and Neuer Markt with its historic characteristics. Most tourist destinations are within walking distance (The State Opera, St. Ste...

We loved this hotel the spacious rooms, right in the heart of the city. Yet it was quiet and peaceful. The staff were all helpful couldn't do enough. We bought the tickets for trams etc and they were great getting to and fro. Vienna, can't wait to return....

This hotel itself looks great and certainly has a lot of potential. Our welcome was mediocre and not overly friendly. The room was large, if a little dated. Id ask for a room on a high floor, as there was some noise from the street. The hotel markets itself as 5 star, but there were some features you often find in 2 or 3 star hotels that were missing, such as an iron & board and a kettle. The location, right on Kärt...

AVOID THIS HOTEL.

Do not go to this hotel. There is building work going on, with scaffolding right outside the window and workers walking by at eye level. Then there is the drilling...you can hardly hear yourself think.
We were not informed of the issue at check in, and even when we asked to be moved to another room, we were told none were available.

We were really looking forward to staying in this hotel as it had been recommended by friends and it was a special birthday celebration for my wife's 60th birthday.
On being allocated our room on the fourth floor, we discovered that there was scaffolding erected across our windows and the 'city view' was completely obscured by an opaque film.
Imagine our dismay when we were awoken before 7 am by workmen on the planks...
