Graben hotel has been my choice for stay during short business trips to Vienna for the last 8 years or so. Excellent location, clean and comfortable rooms. It was like that until my recent stay there in March. I got a room on the last floor, it was so small it barely contained a bed, a chair and a small table, no place for clothing except some hooks on the wall. Our arrival to this hotel left us late at night, initially, with a positive view. We were told breakfast was included and shown where to go. Our room was extremely small, we knew this, but there was no room for the luggage. We managed and were not too disappointed with this. The room had a street view, which we appreciated.

Avoid- smells like a sewer

Gag! The bathroom smelled nauseating. Like an underground sewer! I reported it to the front desk and asked to be switched to another room, but they said none was available. All they did was send a staffer up with a can of air freshener. I had to hold my breath while quickly using the toilet. And I skipped the shower. Avoid!...

The room on the second floor at the rear above the kitchen, had an unpleasant odour. We asked if we could change rooms. They provided a room on the 5th floor. The rooms are dated but functional. The shower screen felt like it was going to fall off every time you moved it. The food in the restaurant is ok but nothing special. I had an incredibly disappointing stay at this hotel. The treatment I received was absolutely shocking. The keys to my room broke, and when I approached the hotel staff, their attitude was rude and unhelpful. To make matters worse, they charged me 100 euros for the broken keys because I broke it and he also said it is the first time that happened on this hotel !!!.
