Best time to go to Montreal

Temperatures in Montreal flicker between mild and sub-zero, depending on the time of year. T-shirt weather’s the norm in the summer months – July being the warmest. You’ll want to bring a jacket for the evenings, though. As for winter, the mercury often nose-dives as low as -9°C, so you’ll need the full works to keep you toasty – think hat, scarf, gloves and a thick coat. Rainfall’s pretty consistent year-round, but August just clinches the trophy for wettest month.

Passports and Visas

British citizens don’t need a visa to enter Canada but require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) and for a small fee, you can apply through our visa and travel authorisation partner – Sherpa. You also must have a valid passport for the proposed duration of stay. For the most up-to-date passport and visa info, visit www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/canada/entry-requirements.

Don't forget to arrange your travel money and insurance before you go.

Health and safety

You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. For the latest health and safety information, visit www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/canada/health
