There are plenty of less white-knuckle water-based activities for those on a family holiday, too. The Wave Palace flaunts the biggest artificial waves in the world – you can actually surf in this massive wave pool – or there’s The Lost City, which has the only pool for babies in the Canaries.

Kids get their own smaller scale splash park too, where everything comes in miniature, from slides to fountains. Back at the resort, pour the rest of your energy into one of La Pineda’s biggest beaches, just a short walk away. The water-filled fun also comes at a slower pace in the form the hotel’s high tech spa. Swim up some lengths in its indoor pools or take a dip in the Turkish bath for a change.
