Dreaming of a long-haul break but not sure where to go? From oh-so-soft sandy beaches and steamy jungles – hello Mexico – to laidback vibes and colourful coral reefs – cue Barbados – here are four of our best places for an All Inclusive long-haul holiday in 2020. These hotspots bring the fun and the sun. When you’ve had a read, check out our long-haul holiday deals…
1. Aruba – teeming with tropical favourites
This Caribbean island may be teeny, but it’s full of tropical favourites – tall palm trees, bath-warm waters and miles of white sand. Snorkel in the bright-blue sea, sip pina coladas in a thatched beach hangout, or sprawl out on the soft shore. If you’re looking for a livelier spot, head to the cute, compact capital of Oranjestad. Here, it’s easy to lose hours rooting around the one-of-a-kind shops. In the evening, check out Mount Jamanota – the highest point on the island – for the best sunset views. Wild parakeets and donkeys roam free here, too – so don’t forget your camera.

2. Mexico – margaritas, Mayan ruins and mariachi bands
Mexico is a mixed sweet jar of scenery. Bustling cities, cactus-dotted deserts and tropical jungles are just a few sights you can expect. The show stealer? Probably the country’s white-sand west side – from Los Cabos to Cancun. In the heart of it is Banderas Bay – a 50-mile-long stretch of powder-soft sand. When you’re not chilling there, get snap happy at the ancient Mayan ruins – Chichen Itza and Tulum – or make tracks for the jungle. With top-notch taco restaurants, boutique shops and exciting diving spots out in force, too, it’s no wonder Mexico is on our must-visit list.

3. Jamaica – rum, reggae and Rasta food
‘No worries’ has to be the motto of this casual-cool island. Think white sands fringed by tall palm trees and beach bars serving up jerk chicken to Bob Marley beats. But it’s not only these favourite Caribbean clichés that’s secured Jamaica a place on our top long-haul holiday list. Mother Nature has worked her magic on the hidden waterfalls, soaring mountains and banana plantations, too. So, when you’re not sunning it up on Montego Bay’s soft shores or taking a boat trip around the blue lagoons, explore colourful coral reefs at Public Beach or river raft along the Martha Brae.

4. Barbados – beachside bliss
Long-haul holidays to Barbados are a no-brainer if you love lounging beachside with a frosty cocktail, or two – it’s All Inclusive after all. The island’s home to more than 92 kilometres of sandy shoreline so it’s ideal for a chilled-out break or a family holiday. Flying the flag for Barbados is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed capital, a hub of reggae bars and some of the best restaurants in the Caribbean. Spot fancy fish in the coral reefs, sunbathe on award-winning Crane Beach or try flying fish at a waterfront restaurant. By night, the buzzing nightlife scene in St Lawrence is your go-to.
