Barcelo Cabo de Gata

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Our room was great, the bathroom was great with bath and walk-in shower. Excellent pools.gym and spa. All areas of the hotel spotlessly clean. We liked the food, especially thewide range of salads and vegetables. Loved the fresh orange juice for breakfast. Bar area too crowded and noisy for us also not enough bar staff. evening entertainment non-existent. All staff friendly and helpful. Two small problems sorted quickly and efficiently.

A nice hotel with a lot of possibilities. Good food, fitness, spa, golf and outdoor areas with pools and sun Terrasse. Good for both families whit kids and for retirees. The area is good for all generations.

This is my second visit to the Barcelo Cabo de Gata. Let’s get rid of the bad things first. Like many hotels this one is cutting costs by serving undrinkable red wine, and food which is edible, but not outstanding. One barman, I was unable to understand his name, but it sounded like idiot, was arrogant, rude, and put a damper on the holiday. Why Barcelo wound employ such a person is beyond understanding. However, most of the staff were great, especially Alonso, who made most of us happy when things got really bad. OK, now to the good things. The rooms are large, have comfortable beds, TV, mini fridge, teas and coffee and large balconies. The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, walk in shower, and everything else you need. My room was always clean and well looked after. The bar area is good, but can get noisy, but there is plenty of room outside for sitting and drinking. The dinning room is well laid out, with show cooking, great salads, very nice deserts, and adequate hot meals. There are three outdoor pools, one of which is heated. There are several places to eat, and an indoor pool and spa, but I did not make use of these. Evening entertainment is very limited, but there are some daytime activities. There is good flat walking around the resort and in the adjacent national park. Overall this has been a good holiday, let down by Mr Idiot. Lastly, I should mention the Saga Representative, Mr David Cox. He did a great job trying to keep us all happy and dealing with the occasional accident. Thanks David.
