A poor experience of late night check in

My flight was late so I arrived at half past midnight. Late but not that late. Hotel was locked and I couldnt get in. Guy hanging around outside having a cigarette said I needed a key. When I said I needed to check in he revealed himself to be the night porter. Firstly he should have been at his post to let me in, secondly he should have I had a suitcase so was likely trying to check in.

Overpriced, ill-maintained and dark rooms, bad service. At this price point & under the Warwick brand, as a seasoned traveller I expected straightforward booking, checkin/out, room with contemporary amenities - working sockets/appliances, lighting etc. - and basic service standards during my stay at this hotel. We looked for a well-known hotel near the Geneva Train Station to spend our once-in-a-lifetime European Christmas vacation. And as we were going to travel by train regularly, both within Switzerland and to other European countries, and also needed to store some of our luggage, we decided on the Warwick Hotel.
