Young couple @ the Marylanza for 7 days

I don't really bother doing reviews but I've been so impressed with this hotel I will. Me and my girlfriend 26 & 24 respectively booked through Thomson paying only 800GBP each for the week which included flights and airport transfers which considering we stayed in this hotel I think is excellent value. Prior to arriving I emailed the hotel asking to be put into the best possible room location and within an hour they called me to confirm - I did pay an extra 70EURO (10p/n). We were put into B113 which was great the patio doors open onto your own private terrace which overlooked the pool and was accessible from there. The rooms are modern and big, separate bedroom from the lounge/kitchen area. We had a slightly odd smell coming from somewhere so called down to reception and it was all resolved within 20m. The food is great and included obviously, there is a bar/cafe in the middle of the pools open during the day (until the restaurant opens of dinner) which serves chips, pizza, burgers and a few other bits. The pool area itself is nice with two sizeable pools and one paddling pool for kids. Its very busy so may struggle to get a bed. The location is good, about 10m walk from the strip and so the nearest beach. We really enjoyed our time here and would recommend for sure. We'll be coming back. Only slight criticism is the wifi is a bit hit and miss but is free and the Spa / gym is owned independently from the hotel so if you wanted to use those facilities which we didn't then an extra cost is incurred.More

Daniel J,

Relaxing all-inclusive holiday in a great environment

The hotel staff were without exception very obliging and helpful and we enjoyed a prefect 2 weeks all inclusive. Excellent selection of food & drinks included and something for everyone on the menu. Pool area can get a little busy BUT there is so much to see in surrounding area, including Siam water park which is a short distance from the hotel by taxi. We had a lovely duplex suite overlooking the golf course and spent many a lazy afternoon on our terrace/ balcony listening to the sound of tee shots. Only downside was the steep stairs to the upper floor which OK for our 2 teenagers, but would have been unsuitable for younger children...this was the second time some of my family had visited the hotel and would certainly here visit again.More

Only just 4*

We just arrived home from a week at the Marylanza and I'd like to start by saying we have had a fantastic week. Just a few points about our week (hopefully taken as constructive criticisms) Food: 1) breakfast at the main restraunt was probably the best meal the hotel provide. Lots of choice and nice touches that made it feel luxurious like the cava and caviar. Personally I feel breakfast could have been served later to maybe 11am instead of 10am for those who go out late on an evening or had a late flight. 2) lunch- we had some lovely meals in the main restraunt but were dissapointed by the food at the pool bar. The main niggle I had was that much of the food there is uncovered and I saw flies ON the food every day so we avoided this. 3) dinner- Mexican night (Saturday I think) amazing! We did go on two trips but we didn't see any other theme nights which was a shame. Would have been nice to see what was being served food wise prior to the day so we could best fit our trips around what we like. 4) I've seen reviews before and I have to agree deserts are mediocre. I was so dissapointed I only saw the chocolate fountain once in the week. Entertainment: 1) bingo good touch. 2) queen tribute good and kept the crowd going. 3) beetles very poor and they were on stage for 35 minutes and talked between songs. My partner commented you could play 24 hours of beetles so they shouldn't have struggled filling an hour. 4) Thompson trip 'the sound of musicals' very good! Not the cheapest but well worth it. drink free flowing, food nice and entertainment brilliant. 5) lots of entertainment/activities until about 10.30 but nothing after that, we're a young couple so would have liked to have had something else. Pool: 1) Before booking my partner asked we go to an adults only hotel but after researching this one and it actually being recommend for couples on the Thompson site I thought we would be OK, I was wrong. There are 2 large pools and a small pool in the hotel, however all were taken over by inflateables, splashing and dive bombing by children who as a rule aren't that fussed for personal space. Not good for those who would just like to do a few lengths, we managed only 20 lengths one day and only because we were there very early in the morning. I thought it wouldn't be that hard to ban inflatables in one pool to solve this problem and give adults a chance to enjoy the pool. 2) I've read reviews about a man who makes sure sunbeds aren't reserved, no evidence of him this week. We had to resort to pulling sunbeds together from other ends of the pool on 2 occasions because of an entire row being taken by towels but yet no one was in the pool or around it how strange... As I've wrote this I realize I'm being critical but these were all things that did bother us more than once and they are not just random unjustified comments. Despite these we had a brilliant week, made better by the help we received from Thompson, the lovely alacarte meal, friendly and hard working staff, brilliant drink selection, gorgeous rooms, fantastic location and most importantly the sunshine. We would come back but maybe not as a young couple with no children.More

Great hotel some minor schoolboy errors

A great stay at the hotel. A few tips though... When expecting an incoming flight, put more than one member of staff on check in, If you want a lazy quiet swim go for hotel with an adult pool and not a rerun of the Spanish Armada by 3-10 year olds.. Sound system in the Cabaret room is completely inaudible but people clap anyway for some reason. All in all. Really good but could be great!! More

Good Stay but slightly spoiled ...

First of all the hotel and surroundings are excellent. Lots of beds by the pool although it is very busy. Room is perfectly adequate with views over golf course, widescreen tv's and air con. Food is a bit repetitive but plenty to go round and you'll always find something decent with the meat freshly grilled. All inclusive drinks in the bars are fine with softs and beer to help yourselves. Would be nice to have some cider available. Now on to the issue we had. Our son happened to leave his new football top in the pool bathroom area, and by the time he realised (30 mins) it had gone. Despite asking around and looking in lost property there was no sign of it. Really disappointing to think a fellow guest or member of staff would take it and not hand it in to reception. It's a Dundee FC top BTW with a number 7 on the back - didn't realise they were in demand! We've also had a pair of sunglasses disappear and aware of other guests suffering a similar fate. So please keep any eye on your belongings! Overall a good holiday and the staff have been lovely, but just a little bit soured by the disappearance of the football top. More
