We went as a family for two weeks in August. We did have to wait for our room to be ready but in fairness it is a 12 o'clock checkout and we arrived at 1pm. We were welcomed with a refreshing fruit juice and the staff could not have been more pleasant. The food was all inclusive and loads of choice e.g. fish and steaks and stews and soups and seafood etc. Huge salad bar and loads of cheese and pate and really everything you could think of was on at one point or another. As another example at breakfast how do you like your eggs? ... fried, soft boiled, hard boiled, scrambled, poached or perhaps an omelette made to your choice while you wait. Probably not quite so much choice for vegetarians, but still lots of veg and salad. Staff in the restaurant attentive and clear plates away with a smile. Two pools and both beautifully clear and clean [one was closed off for half a day while a diver replaced some missing tiles]. Officially close at 6pm but still people swimming til late [admittedly without a life guard]. People still get up at the crack of dawn to preserve their bed near the pool. We called them crazy people. If they didn't save the beds with their towels and inflatables there would be loads of space for everyone. Never the less, we didn't lounge all day, and when we wanted to use the pool we always managed to find a spot or two. You can rent hotel towels for pool use for 5 euro refundable deposit. Yes there are kids but if this is not to your taste, stop at an adult only hotel. Lovely family atmosphere. All inclusive included local spirits and drinks and some cocktails with only a small charge for premium drinks. Staff again helpful at all times. Position of the hotel is between los christianos and playa de las Americas, with a 5 euro taxi ride to either resort. You could easily walk but it would probably take about 20-30 minutes so we cabbed it. Rooms are cleaned everyday and hygiene standards are very high. Spa on site with fitness gym attached. Reasonable 15 euros for a two hour visit, or 40 euros for the week. Highly recommended.More
Super holiday and location
We had room E203. .With a golf view. .brilliant. Staff extremely friendly and courteous. Very very clean hotel and room service fabulous..pools super..lifeguards remove towels on sunbeds left before 10..which is fair. Food ok just normal all inclusive..loved the pool bar food though really nice (apart from burgers) To sum up..well worth a stay great value for money...More
Marylanza not Mario Lanza!
This was our fifth visit to Tenerife PDLA and the first time we had stayed at Marylanza. Improvement areas first - we had to wait nearly 2 hours for our room to be ready on arriving at the hotel! Not a good start. No refreshments on arrival, however other holiday parties did - need consistency. The entertainment whilst varied lacked what you would expect from a 4 star hotel, fairly poor quality acts. The heated pool had issues with guests cutting their feet on missing tiles, my son & I experienced this!! That said the hotel manager did close off the pool in an attempt to rectify the problem, however with limited success as the pool really needed draining to do the job properly which is difficult at the height of the season. Not all doom and gloom. Areas that were good - the staff were fantastic, the restaurant staff very efficient at their jobs and the chefs produce very good food and dishes!! Normally you can become bored with some all inclusives with the food but they have really got the 'recipe' (pardon the pun!) right!!! High quality food with very varied ranges of dishes for all 3 meal times. Drinks were good from the bars, cocktails and Cava from breakfast through until Midnight - Great!! Bar food near the pool was good and plenty of it with fruit and 'unlimited' ice cream and slush puppy drinks for the kids!! Also 2 beer taps so you don't have to queue at the bar - bonus!!! The hotel rooms were huge and very clean, daily maid service. A living room area with balcony and separate bedroom and bathroom, view not great from the balcony (main road) however didn't spend that much time on the balcony! Sunbeds!!! Although you still get the 'very sad' people who sit on sunbeds from 6am for the rest of the clan to arrive at midday!!! Marylanza being no exception, The lifeguards did enforce the rule if no-one is on a sunbed before 10am with a towel on it they are removed - well done!!! I detest people who starting hogging sunbeds before the sun is up - ridiculous!!!!!! We did manage to get 2 sunbeds every day putting our towels down after breakfast around 8.45am. The weather let us down, very cloudy on 3 days with a reprieve on the other 3 days with good sun exposure. The staff did say this is the worst weather they have experienced in many years!! All in all a very nice holiday break. Tip - Go to Harley's American diner restaurant about 5 mins taxi ride from PDLA, nice change if you want a treat from the all inclusive and very reasonably priced meal for 3 adults 52 euros with a drink each.More
