    Secret Oasis Yiasmin
    11 Jul , 2022 Kipper666, 503839
We’ve been coming to Paphos and the Secret Oasis Villas for 5 years every year with only 2020 missed due to covid. We used to stay at the Anemona however after it was sold we started staying at Yiasmin. This was our second year here. I also pay for the earlier Tui flight so I can arrive in the afternoon, pop to Phillipos supermarket, get my provisions then chill out for the rest of the day after travelling. The villa is easy to find, although the directions the Google map takes you is around the houses, so go all the way down the road when you come out of the airport, turn left signposted Pafos, left at the next roundabout, right at the next roundabout then follow it straight all the way until just before Coral Bay and you see a brown sign for Mavrokolympus Dam. The villa is just before a barrier to the dam on the right hand side. This is a 3 bedroom villa, a double bedroom and two twin bedrooms. So sleeps 6. The upstairs bedroom has a balcony but there is nothing up there so you would need to take seating etc. but it is the hottest room of the house. There are fans in each room and AC units although AC is €7 per day per unit. We just had one for the double room as it was needed overnight with temperatures remaining at 26 overnight. The mattresses are a little hard so if you’re not used to a hard mattress it may be slightly uncomfortable. The rooms are all large with plenty of storage space. The bathrooms do need updating as they are quite outdated and a few things need replacing. When we arrived, the owner had called the drain company as the previous tenants had clogged the waste pipes with toilet paper and sanitary products. You aren’t allowed to flush anything down the toilet as most of cyprus do not have modern sewerage. It wasn’t an issue and he apologised profusely for having to have men on the property whilst we were there. He told us a heat wave was coming so to be careful and he wasn’t wrong. It was a scorcher! The pool has seen better days and needs some TLC, with painting and the poolside area stones need sorting, as some bits are sharp, so wearing flip flops is advisable. We had to complain a few times over the cloudiness of the pool, but it was usually fixed the same day. (We think the pump is faulty). Out of the 6 sun beds only 3 work fully. The other three are missing notches on the back due to the extreme heat and them snapping. Fine if you want flat ones or ones that sit a little lower. There is a BBQ that has lots of fish baskets and skewers for you to use. The scenery and peace and quiet is the main reason we come back year after year. You can see it laying in bed, laying in the pool, laying on the sunbeds, siting in the chairs. Sitting on the walls. Nature is all around you. The Cicadas are extremely noisy in July (like big crickets) so if you turn up and it sounds like electric that’s what they are. The hunters let their dogs roam free from about 4:30am until 8am, there are usually packs of 6 and sometimes two packs out at a time. It didn’t bother me that much but if you’re a light sleeper it will wake you up as they bark with excitement. Nice we did have two of them come into the pool area to have a drink then they scattered off again ready for round two. Talking to one of the hunters they are catching rabbit and birds. Sometimes you will hear them again in the evening but not all the time. It is a short drive into coral bay, and on the way is our favourite restaurant The Ocean Basket, lots of fish and seafood if that’s your thing, they also deliver. But the kitchen is well equipped so cooking is not a problem either. We used to leave things for the next people like fish cloths and washing liquid etc but it can’t be guaranteed now that they are not removed. Saying that though we had half a box of cereal, some ice lollies, half a bottle of gin, olive oil, mayonnaise and salt left from the people before us. There is wifi, it was good enough for what we needed it for. There is also a tv but we never turned it on the whole time we were there. There are books that people can take a new one and leave their old one. And a pack of cards. The person that bought the Anemona has a rescue dog, that was abandoned in the dam, her name is Mitzie and she is super friendly and super gentle. She will come over and say hi. But until she knows you are okay she will be a little afraid. The previous people bought a bowl and left water out so we continued to do so so she had constant water. In July it is snake season so if you do go walking just take a stick with you to make noise or walk a little harder. The majority of the time they are the black ones that dont want anything to do with people so they slither away. Places to go that I recommend , Restaurants - Ocean Basket Coral Bay (fish, seafood, sushi) Lekanto - Coral Bay (traditional Cypriot food) Peyia Tavern- Pegeia ( traditional Cypriot Meze) MUST BOOK Viklari - Avakas Gorge (traditional Cypriot BBQ) MUST BOOK Places - Lara Bay - isolated beach and turtle reserve. It is down a very bumpy rocky potholely road. But persevere it’s worth it. Troodos Mountains. So much to see each village is different, there are many trails to walk. If you go later in the year take a jumper. The temp difference is insane. Kykkos Monastery- Troodos. Lived in monastery. Avakas Gorge - beautiful natural gorge to walk, and climb a little. Different times of year the water will be at different levels and there are a few routes you can take. Mavrokolympus Dam. We would walk up the dam every morning and jog back down. It is an incline and rocky in patches but there is a bit to explore on the way. All in all a lovely place - it is tired and needs updating but you can’t replace the view
    Ladania Villa
    16 May , 2022 Keith E, 191280
Hi, We have just returned from a fantastic holiday with our best friends in Coral Bay, Paphos Cyprus. We stayed in the Secret Oasis Villa Ladania. What a perfect place to stay for our 2 week break. The Villa is located approximately 1.5km from Coral bay up in the hills with pleasant views from the patio and swimming pool area and is very quiet and secluded. WiFi and Internet access is poor, but this wasn't a real problem as the coverage in Coral bay and surrounding area was very good. Swimming pool is good and the pool man comes around every other day to service the pool, the outdoor furniture is a little dated and tired but is fit for purpose. A couple of the outside lights didn't work but was not a problem. Kitchen is adequate, there is 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom in the main building and a separate twin bedroom in the separate anex, each bedroom has its own bath/shower room and toilet. In Coral bay there is a good selection of bar's and restaurants and of course Paphos is only a short drive away. In the previous reviews that I had read about this Villa before coming here, some people complained about the dogs barking in the morning yes we did hear them but it was not that bad to be honest. The only criticism I have is that you need to be careful when finding the Villa as it could do with better signage as you can miss it when driving up there for the first time. Would definitely recommend it to family and friends as a great place to stay.

On first view Villa Ladania is a lovely villa, high up a hill with sea views however we were saddened that on closer inspection outside out of the 5 (villa is for 6) plastic garden chairs, 3 were broken and the same with the sunbeds, at least half had broken fittings to sit up on the sunbed. The wifi was poor. The villa is spacious with a lovely annexe for 2. Being in the countryside expect a few insects indoors and bugs in the pool. The dogs, as mentioned previously, bark every morning between 6.10am and 6.40am. Pool guy visits daily around 7.30am. Communal bin approx 1km down the road. Coral bay with it's restaurants and supermarket is only a few minutes drive away.

We stayed in the Secret Oasis Villa Violetta end of March / early April. It really is the perfect escape from the norm, it's peace and tranquility at its best. All you can hear are the bees buzzing, the birds singing, and you may get an owl visit at night. A couple of times a day you may find the locals take their dogs out, so yes, you may may hear a bit of barking, but it certainly didn't bother us. We found the pool man and owners to be very helpful, we asked if we could light the open fire, as the evenings in March can be quite chilly, the next morning they were there with a radiator, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The villa has everything you need, and we are looking forward to a re-visit one day.

ret Oasis Villa Violetta We visited from 22nd Aug to 5th Sept This villa is in a great location if you want total peace and quiet away from everyone and all noise, it’s very peaceful and silent, which is just what we wanted. I have read some reviews of noise from dogs but we only heard a dog crying for a bit a couple of times then it stopped. You can find the exact location if you have the “what three words” app. The words to find the location are :-///survey.augment.consisted. Or the Geotag; 34.853674,32.400772 A little bit difficult to find as it’s off a sharp turn down a steep hill on the right and there’s only a little sign in the bushes with the name on it. It’s set up in the hills and looks out onto a large hill with nothing around it, apart from the owners second villa which is approximately 200 yards away. You can see the sea through the hills when you stand up and look out. If the pool pump house had been placed in a better place there might have been a better sea view. A downside for some people might be, you need a car as it’s 36 minutes walk from the villa to the Coral Bay roundabout, which we logged on a walking app. But it is mostly downhill. The cheapest taxi we found was Lazaros Taxi www. Cyprus-taxi.com. He has a mini bus that seat 6-8. From here to Coral Bay strip it’s €12 each way and €25 each way to Pathos harbour area. There is a bus from Coral Bay into the harbour every 10 minutes for €2.50 each way. If there’s a group of you a taxi is cheaper. Entrance There was no bulb in the outside porch area so you’ll need a torch if arriving at night, to see the key box. The owner sent us a txt with the code before we arrived. There is a slot for the key fob next to the door, for the electric to work. You have to lock the door as it doesn’t lock on it’s own, then put the key in the slot. Thomas the owner had left us a note on the table with the wifi code and his number if we needed anything. The wifi did drop on and off quite a lot. We didn’t get a visit from him or a TUI rep but that was ok for us. Living Area Furniture is traditional, one 3 and one 2 seater settees, not that we spent anytime indoors as it is August/Sept and really hot. Dining table with 6 chairs, corner unit with a variety of books, playing cards people have left and a cupboard with drawers in it. TV and DVD player. Bedrooms The villa has 3 rooms. on the ground floor, 1 double with en-suite bath, shower and toilet and a useful safe in the wardrobe, 1 twin with a separate bathroom next to it and 1 twin with en-suite toilet and shower upstairs. I opened the far window in the twin room downstairs as it was so hot when we arrived, but couldn’t lock it again as it had obviously been broken before and fixed to close, but I rang the owner and he came within the hour to fix it for us. Pool Area There is a lovely pool which is cleaned 3 times a week. The pool itself needs a bit of attention, needs sealing under the ridge tiles and a bit of paint around the top, but that doesn’t stop you enjoying it. There are 6 sun beds and 1 parasol but there is plenty of shade under a very large covered patio area, and also after lunch on the right side of the pool which is shaded by trees. Don’t leave anything that the ants might like on the floor, they’ll find it in no time ha ha! The pool rules state shower before entering the pool, but there is no outdoor shower. There’s a hose pipe that could be put on a stand by the BBQ area which would make a good outdoor shower. There’s a maiden and a washing line round the back so you can wash and dry your clothes before you go home or during your stay. There’s no cushions for the sun loungers which do get uncomfortable. Most villa don’t supply them but I think they should for the price you pay. Air conditioning When booking with Tui it does not state air conditioning, there is some in the bedrooms but this has to be paid for daily at a cost of €7 per day per unit. The bedrooms stay quite cool for a while after the air con has been turned off and it doesn’t take long to cool the room when you turn it on. Kitchen The kitchen has enough crockery, a few more cereal bowls would be good as there are only two small ones, but plenty of other plates, utensils etc if you wish to cook. Don’t leave any food out though, as Cyprus does have an ant issue, which you get anywhere. We get this in most Villa’s, we have started in, no idea how they get in but they are onto anything at all if you leave the tiniest crumb or sweet thing out. We found that leaving water in the bottom of the sink worked quite well to keep them away. I think some sealant around the kitchen worktops might be a good idea as there is a gap. There’s an electric hob, built in oven, dish washer, washing machine, fridge freezer, toaster, kettle and microwave. Bathrooms The cleaners had not left us any toilet rolls, but we contacted the owner and he very kindly got some for us. Misc Some more clothes hangers would be good as they were only in the double room. Other reviews have said this villa is dated but I would say it’s just traditionally furnished, it’s very clean and tidy. The cleaners were there for over an 1hr or so on Sunday, stripped the the beds mopped the floors and cleaned the bathrooms etc, but they didn’t leave any spare toilet rolls again, obviously you need to buy those. Shopping If you’ve booked through TUI you’ll have a car included but If you don’t, there’s a supermarket called Philippos along the main road which is great. You can do your shop and they’ll take you and your shopping back to your villa for free too! TUI * A layout of the villa would be helpful as we didn’t know there was a separate bathroom which was good to know. * When booking online it did not state that air conditioning was billable separately at €7 per unit per day. (That would normally be included in the price when booking with others) I can see that that’s because you may not need it in the winter months but you definitely do need in the summer and could be selected or not. It would be helpful if there was a choice to pay for air conditioning when booking as otherwise you have to pay the pool man, who has to come and turn it on for you. We did ask TUI to arrange for it to be turned on for us on arrival, as we were arriving late and if it’s not just contact the owner who is very helpful. * The car that comes with the booking is a very small Kia so you need to upgrade if there’s more than two of you. An upgrade to a Kia Sportage was an extra £250 for 2 weeks on 22nd Aug as we had 4 of us, but obviously prices vary depending on time of year. To sum up, we really enjoyed our stay in Villa Violetta and would love to come back again.😊
