I would have given this hotel 5 stars, but I'm hoping my rating (among many others) will prompt management to take my feedback seriously.
First off, this is a luxury hotel, the lobby is a picture of opulence and the reception is excellent. Nobody offered to take our bags to the room (we traveled with our two teenagers and booked two rooms, so that's a lot of bags), but that's a minor quibble.

Everything about this hotel was tops: Front Desk staff and porters outside were very courteous and accommodating. We asked to leave some of our luggage there a few days before our actual check-in as we were going to Cappadocia for a couple of days and they accommodated our request. This is my first stay at InterContinental Istanbul, even though I've been loyal to the IHG program since 2013 and spend dozens of nights in hotels every year. I hold Platinum status and am an InterContinental Ambassador, while also staying with other chains (Hilton - Gold, Wyndham - Diamond, Radisson - VIP), so I do have a point of comparison.

Dated rooms with poor Club lounge.

The rooms are very dated and the refurbishment is going very slowly. The Club lounge offering is a joke these days, tiny little plates of mediocre food and with lazy waiting staff which could not be bothered to clean plates or serve drinks.
Most of the Club lounge is now effectively a restaurant so actual sitting remaining is cramped.
Service at the pool is non existent.

We stayed at the Intercontinental Istanbul near Taksim Square twice during our trip. For the first part, we were upgraded (as IHG Platinum Elite Ambassador members) from a Junior Suite to a One-Bedroom Suite, Room 407. The room was spacious with a beautiful view of the Bosphorus Bridge, but it felt dated and in need of refurbishment.
