We loved staying in the heart of old Istanbul. Nidya Hotel Galataport has a great location just opposite the Bosphorus and cafés both upmarket and budget traditional cuisine, half a kilometre from the tram stop although we walked everywhere and close to many points of interest. After booking this hotel I received several very nice emails which led me to believe that things were going to be smooth and streamlined. Upon arrival on May 1 in Istanbul we hired a taxi to transport us to hotel as prearranged ride left due to delay in Getting through passport control and not finding baggage.

We found the whole staff at Nidya Galataport Hotel most helpful, friendly and stop at nothing to give you extremely great service. There service goes above and beyond to help foreign visitors. Comfortable clean room, delicious restaurant....

Front rooms Very Noisy

We stayed here twice at the beginning and end of tour. The room at the back of the hotel was ok but dated....and as others have noted there was a sewer smell to the toilet area. The room at the front was larger but unbearably noisy from traffic outside...I do mean really bad.
Location was very good. Breakfast was fine. Staff were generally aloof and uninterested. One of our group had a bag disappear from the hotel...

Overall a below average hotel, staff inattentive & generally have a laid back manner. Rooms are dated and in need or repair.
Bar is non existent & restaurant catering to a select taste.
Room was cleaned & water provided for us.
Feels like a side interest for some one, not their main focus...
