I stay at The Skallion every time I go to Istanbul - it is immaculate and very, very safe. It's not fancy and some rooms only have a window to an air shaft but the price is perfect, the roof-top restaurant has an incredible view and Fedat makes a KILLER espresso martini!
There are dozens of very good restaurants of all types and price range just around the corner and straight up the street about 6 blocks is the tram...

Maryiam at reception was amazingsuper professional and went out of her way to make sure everything was handled smoothly. It really felt like a home away from home. Great breakfast options every morning and a stunning view to top it off. Thanks to the whole team for the hospitality. Ill be back for sure!"...

WARNING: Health hazard, black MOLD TWICE, DO NOT come here!
We arrived late night from the airport and was greeted by the smell of a basement (damp moldy smell) when going to our room, we discovered black mold on the bathroom tiles and door.
