I went to the the hotel as an outside visitor the day after the hurricane. The whole island was devastated by the storm the night before and most of us were without electricity, phones and wifi. Mobile signal and landline phone communication was also very difficult to get too. Very few hotels in the area have full generator back up as, although power cuts aren't unheard of, they are rare in the summer and would at most last be a couple of hours. Any emergency generators on the island were being used for sick and vulnerable people. I spoke to several guests who understood what a rare phenomenon had occurred and the situation the island was in. The lack of electric meant the pool couldn't be used as the filtration system couldn't work and, as the water was still clear,it was easy to see there were a few brown leaves in it and nothing more sinister. I highly doubt that giving people candles for their rooms would have been considered acceptable and being on a island we don't have immediate access to vast quantities of goods like torches etc. The contiued rough weather also meant that the ferries services were unable to run which impeded rescue crews areiving on the island to help people who were genuinely in need never mind deliver goods. I don't know about any other issues at the hotel but they are a nice family, some of whom are members of the volunteer rescue groups in the area and were otherwise occupied during that time. The north of the island was, and in parts still is, devastated by the hurricane and a state of emergency was called for the whole area. The hotels, restaurants and bas have had to make the best of what has already been a very difficult year due to covid restrictions so this last event just about ruined the season. Hope this puts some of what happened into context.

Where to start? Met by Alex and told straight away that bar would be closed 4pm everyday. Room nice, good bathroom. Was only just settling in when 2 guests showed us something in the pool that looked very much like human faeces. They had reported it 3 days before but pool was never cleaned.Breakfast was dismal but we had to have something. We payed for our own kitchenette but it didn't exist. Then the hurricane which obviously wasn't anyones fault. No help from owners or staff. No electricity or water but owners left us with not even a candle. Our room flooded in the early hours even though we were on 2nd floor.Everthing on floor was ruined. No help from hoteliers. Didnt even mop it up properly.In fact after bad weather nothing was cleaned up. Was left in a dangerous condition. Tui rep that came to see us halfway through holuday said we can only be moved if we pay for a new holiday. Was the real holiday from hell. Left to deal with everything on our own. No duty of care from anyone. As for the kitchen I'm sickened that we ate there.
