"Nerve centre", "Main street", "Best tourist thing to do" in Madrid... Really?
I did not think so. Its February its not that warm but its ok, if youre walking about its actually better as youre not sweating loads in the heat...
Walked from one end of this street to the other and compared to say Oxford Street in London or Las Ramblas in Barcelona this street was not that special.

We enjoyed window shopping, indulging in delicious tapas, and soaking up the lively street performances. As night fell, the lights transformed the street into a dazzling spectacle....

High end shopping main road

I was expecting something similar to Times Square but was disappointed when I realized that Gran Via is a shopping main road (similar to 5th Avenue in New York) with prominent branded shops. A saving grace was the beautiful Primark store where we found lots of bargains.

Gran disappointment

The Gran Via was fairly disappointing. I know that it's a "must see" tourist itinerary, but if you had to drop something off the list or decide to go back to another museum, I would definitely do that instead. Very commercial, stores that you can easily see in the US. Architecture was the saving grace....
