I visited Oman last week on a leisure trip and stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. Even though the hotel is around 40 to 50 minutes drive from the Airport, it is a beautiful super luxury property surrounded by sea and mountains . An exceptional hotel in every way. Service first class, facilities wonderful. Very clean. Rooms spacious and well appointed. Location in a stunning location on a cliff top with views out to sea.
All staff were absolutely brilliant and a particular shout out to Kalpesh and Parag in dining who were kind, helpful, cheerful and extremely professional. We were very sad indeed to leave....

This was a pleasant but slightly mixed stay at this resort. Having stayed at the Al-Bandar resort a couple of years prior to this visit and that stay being excellent, we had great hopes this time. But the longer we stayed, the more some issues came to mind.

A great hotel. From the moment you arrive you experience a real 5 star service with lovely touches such as the evening cocktail hour in the main courtyard, its a wonderful nightly event that brings the hotel together. The free wine / cocktails is a nice touch and the staff make sure you are really well looked after. Third stay at the Shangri La and 2nd review. We had a great stay, see my last review for details in why it's gets a five star review.
In terms of update I would say small cracks are starting to appear and it was quite such an obvious 5 star review this time.
