Beautiful rooms in the heart of the city

We are local but needed a hotel in the city to be able to hop on a train early the next morning. This hotel is going to be our "go-to" for recommendations to friends and family.

There are many good things about this hotel, and we would like to make it our regular place of lodging when we visit New York City several times a year. The location is wonderful, close to many attractions and shops. Both the Paris bar and Jardine, the rooftop bar are very nice. Delicious food, great cocktails, and attentive service. Arrived to a very rude receptionist.. if this is what you want customers to come into then I suggest you need to re-check this part, same receptionist was there on leaving and again rude attitude.. rooms dated, but spacious.. location great..showers need attention 602(room)

I'll echo what many others have. The good: the location is stellar, with a grocery store two doors up, and Central Park (and uptown) incredibly close/easily walkable. Shopping is close too, Nordstrom's, Bergdorf's etc.. The hotel is small and relatively quiet - surprising given its location. The hotel location is great, although the rooms are in need of an update. The elevators can be very slow, especially when the roof bar is open. We waited in the lobby for over 15 minutes one evening. But especially concerning is the $40 destination fee added to the daily bill. We were told it could be used towards a drink on the roof (see note about elevator) or in the adjacent restaurant.
