Having stayed here twice in the past and had an excellent stay we were looking forward to this visit. Stayed in a corner suite overlooking the street with a slight view of the river. Hotel seemed tired and in need of TLC in places. Bathroom small for the large suite. Could not reach front desk by direct dial from our room so had to call using external number. Room service is run by an external company. Despite being on 16th floor there was constant street noise all night.

Nice room but shades didn’t work it was too late to have anyone try and fix it. They said they would make note of it. Then after we left with a paid receipt my credit card was charged more than the receipt with no explanation. Still trying to straighten it out almost one week later.
Friendly, comfortable stay convenient to MSK Josie Robertson

My wife was having surgery at Josie Robertson, so we booked 3 nights at the Bentley, which is right across the street. (The MSK discount rate wasn't available, but we did get a promotional reduced rate.) There's also garage affiliated with the hotel around the corner. On arrival, we were upgraded to a suite, which was spacious and comfortable. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but it does have room service (which we didn't use) and there are restaurants a block away on First Ave., some of which deliver to the hotel. On checkout, we got a discount on parking. The neighborhood is kind of noisy, with bridge and FDR Drive traffic and numerous emergency vehicles. But the views of the river are great.
Can I Rate This Place a 2.5?

I was in NYC for business for two days, traveling with several other co-workers. This was booked on a business travel system (Concur) and the location was chosen by the project manager for this engagement. The location is excellent. Parking is available at a somewhat sketchy garage around the block from the hotel. There are many restaurants in walking distance of the hotel. It is very close to Memorial Sloan Kettering. The front desk staff are very personable. Upon checking in I was given an upgrade (?) from a standard Queen Room to a King size bed. I was in room 204. The room itself was huge with wall to wall windows on 1 side of the room and a large window on another side. Upon walking in the room I was greeted by two chairs, of which the photos of them are attached. Who would have ratty, beaten up chairs like those pictured in a hotel, other than maybe a no-tell motel, a frat house or a man-cave? The king size bed desperately needs to be replaced. By desperately I mean like today. It was perhaps the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on in a hotel, with the exception of a Micro-Tel in Erie, PA, but that is another story. You can see your indent in the mattress when you get up. The sides were worse than the center. The flat screen TV was on the smaller size with a somewhat limited channel selection. The bathroom amenities were way above standard, including the towels, shampoo, body wash, etc. The floor of this room was "lumpy" - a bad description but lets just say the structurally something was amiss with the floor. I didn't check out the gym, bar, or anything else in the hotel as I was there a limited amount of time. I am not sure if the $19.95 "residence fee" is clearly indicated on normal booking sites but it wasn't on Concur. It wouldn't have mattered much to me as this was being billed to my client. So what do you get for the $19.95 (plus tax)? You get very good WiFi and two small bottles of Fiji water along with other intangibles such as unlimited local phone calls and luggage storage. Maybe my room was really not an upgrade after all.
decent value for location

Clean, attractive room, attentive bell staff. Should include a luggage stand but didn't - maybe need to ask for one. Also, the comforter on the bed was heavy for the temperature of the room and there was no alternative choice in the closet of a blanket instead. I had to put the A/C down to 65 - waste of energy! Lobby area could use a refreshing and the lobby bar leaves much to be desired.
