Pay your respects at Wat Baan Kamala

Compared to some of the temples in south-west Thailand, Wat Baan appears to be a bit of a plain Jane. But don’t judge a book by its cover. This place of worship is as valuable to the history books as the cenotaph in London. Pictures taken during the Boxing Day tsunami show this temple up to the eaves in water. Since then, it’s been rebuilt, and it stands testament to the courage of the local people.
