Sardine Festival, Olhos D' Agua
In early August, the little town of Olhos de Agua, five minutes' drive away, puts on its annual sardine festival. The four day event is all about nightly beach barbeques, where you can sample grilled sardines drizzled with olive oil. After 10pm, the party really gets going – there are stalls selling Algarve wine and the last night ends with a fireworks display.
