Barcelona is a city that effortlessly blends rich history with stunning architecture and a cool culinary scene, making it the ideal destination for a four-day getaway. I love to have a mix of relaxation, cultural exploration and culinary experiences when I go away – hopefully you do, too. I’m talking sipping wine at a vineyard, lounging at a beach club and exploring Gaudi’s architectural sites, all in one.
So, if you’re planning a trip to Barcelona, here’s a carefully crafted itinerary to help you make the most of your time in this hot city. From stunning rooftop views to cultural adventures, this guide has it all…
Day 1 – a stylish start
My adventure began as I checked into The Corner Hotel, a stylish boutique place in the heart of Barcelona. Known for its elegant and modern design, The Corner Hotel has a welcoming atmosphere that’s perfect for starting your holiday on the right foot. After checking in, I headed straight to The Corner Rooftop. This hidden gem offers stunning panoramic views of the city and has a chic vibe that’s perfect for unwinding after your journey. I treated myself to a refreshing drink, while taking in that stunning skyline.
In the evening, I headed out to El Nacional, one of Barcelona’s most iconic dining destinations. On Passeig de Gràcia, this upscale food hall boasts a variety of restaurants and bars, all under one roof and offering everything from fresh seafood to traditional tapas. It’s the perfect place to get a feel for the real food of Barcelona on your first night.
Day 2 – sailing, culture and scenic views
Saturday started with an unforgettable sailing adventure from Barcelona to the nearby vineyards. This boat tour and wine tasting is a First Choice experience that offers a unique opportunity to explore the stunning coastline before heading inland for a winery tour. I got to learn all about the region’s winemaking traditions while sampling some of Catalonia’s best sellers.
After my morning adventure, I headed back to the city for a leisurely lunch at Billy Brunch. This popular spot is known for its delicious and hearty brunch options, making it the perfect place to refuel before an afternoon of sightseeing.
Nice and full, I started with a visit to the Casa Batlló, one of Antoni Gaudi’s masterpieces. This whimsical building, with its bright colours and unique architecture, is a must-see for any visitor to Barcelona. Next, I took a ride on the Telefèric de Montjuïc – a cable car that offers spectacular views of the city as it ascends to Montjuïc Castle. Once at the top, you can explore the historic fortress and take in the panoramic views of Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea. After that, I indulged in a quick snack at Las Muns, known for their delicious empanadas. These savoury pastries are the perfect treat to keep you going as you continue to explore the city – it’s hard work…
My day ended with a visit to Petit Tapas, a cosy spot where you can enjoy a well-deserved drink. Whether you opt for a glass of local wine or a creative cocktail, this is the perfect place to unwind and reflect on the day’s adventures.
Day 3 – and relax
Sunday is rest day, so I started with a chill breakfast at the hotel. There are a variety of delicious options, so I filled my plate.
I have no shame that I spent the majority of my time soaking up the sun at Purobeach Club Barcelona. This luxurious beach club offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Lounge by the pool and sip on refreshing cocktails – it’s the ultimate way to unwind and recharge, which you don’t often expect in a fast-paced place like this. I finished with a lovely evening at Cerveseria Universitat, where you can watch football and join in with the fans, as you sip a cold beer and munch on some classic Spanish tapas.
Day 4 – bye Barca
On my final morning in Barcelona, I went for a refreshing iced matcha drink at Ripa Coffee. This trendy café is known for its specialty drinks and laidback vibe. Self-confessed coffee snobs, take note…
Before saying goodbye to this beaut city, I took the time to visit two more notable hotels – El Avenida Palace and H10 Cubik. Both have unique styles and histories, and I got given a tour of each to show you all For lunch, I tried Atik Terrace for a meal with a view. It’s on top of H10 Cubik and the terrace has a stunning setting for your final meal here. Then, before I left, I had to check out the Mercat de la Boqueria. This bustling market is a feast for the senses, with a wide range of fresh produce, meats, seafood and local delicacies. It’s the perfect place to pick up some last-minute souvenirs or just soak up the vibrant atmosphere.
