TATTOO TOURISM: TOP DESTINATIONS FOR SCRATCHING THE INK ITCH
27th May 2025: Holiday tattoos have been a trend with young travellers for years, with backpackers, gap yearers and wanderlusters making a permanent memory of their trip with a bit of spontaneous beach side ink.
But with Gen Z quickly becoming more tatt’ed up than any generation before, could 2025 be the year we’re travelling for tattoo tourism?
Newly opened London studio Fine Line Hearts Club attracted 7-hour queues for its free-tat pop up a couple of weeks ago, while cult Gen Z brand Blank Street has launched its latest campaign through a free matcha and tattoo pop up, generating TikTok views in the millions.
Meanwhile Pinterest searches for ‘holiday tattoo’ have increased by over 600% at the start of the year, with 91% of those searches made by those under 35 and creators like @inkedabroad sharing top artists around the world to hundreds of thousands of followers.
So with tattoo tourism set to rise in popularity, travel company First Choice has pulled together the most unique tattoo spots for some truly unforgettable ink from around the world.

Amanita Tattoo Retreat is an immersive tattooing experience where you can take a sauna in a toadstool, stay in woodland cabins, and join yoga classes before getting tattooed, all against the backdrop of the Bóbr Valley Landscape Park.

Bettyzoo is a female owned and operated parlour in central Copenhagen. With disco balls dripping from the ceiling, giant cacti and large open plan décor, this place is all about light and bright vibes.
