Great week away
Really nice hotel with plenty to do. We didn't have children with us so took full advantage of the adult only pool which was beautiful, very quite and within easy distance of refreshments. We had a great week here and just relaxed and enjoyed the sun and a few good books.More
Greece is the word!
We stayed at Nana Beach Hotel last September. the weather was great and everything about the Hotel was good. We had a hiccup over our room when we arrived as it was ground floor and not much of a view, but this was soon rectified by the helpful receptionist and we ended up with a lovely first floor room with a balcony surrounded by trees and beautiful flowers. With the sound of the crickets chirping during the day, it was quite magical! The rooms were good, the bathroom adequate. There were plenty of places to eat, but we did find that the main restaurant got a bit full early on. it was always better to go a bit later to make way for the families. The Hotel is situated about 10 minutes walk from Stalis (to the left) and half an hour to Hersonissos (to the right), so for us that was perfect. Stalis was good for buying niknaks and had some great places to get a drink or meal. All the restaurants on the left hand side of the road where next to the beach so had nice views. Hersonissos was more for the serious shopper, but also had restaurants and bars down on the right next to the sea and good nightlife (if that is your thing). we caught the Happy Train from the Hotel entrance and it took us through Stalis to Malia and back, it was a good starting point to find out where everything is. On our last day we took a trip up the mountain to the village of Mochos, which was lovely. There is a village square with all the cafes and restuarants. There was also a house that has been made into a museum. The trip on the Happy train was very relaxing and the views from the mountain down to the coast were amazing. We caught the bus to the Aquarium at Gournes. The buses are very good and cheap, and more like coaches. The receptionist at the Hotel was very helpful and gave us a timetable. the bus stop is right outside the hotel. Even on a sunday the buses were busy! The hotel has about 5 swimming pools and as there were just the 2 of us we liked the small quiet pool opposite the fish restaurant pool. The grounds of the hotel are filled with trees with the loveliest flowers and the scent at night was just intoxicating. Very romantic on a hot summers night. We loved this hotel but life is too short to go back to the same place i think, otherwise this would be our favourite so far!! We do love the Island and the people though. It is quite family orientated but as a couple and quite private, we still managed to have a great time. We always managed to find a lounger on the beach (which was sandy). The only annoying thing for me is that we had the sports channel on the tv so i had trouble getting my other half to leave the room sometimes!More
Absolutely wonderful relaxation
I went with my boyfriend at the beginning of june 2015. We found the resort through Tripadvisor, and had high expectations, which were definitely met. We are going back in 5 weeks :) When we arrived at the resort, we were offered refreshments in the lobby while they checked us in. Afterwars they drove us with our luggage through the resort to our room, and we were absolutely astounded at the beauty of the whole resort. The highlights of our trip were: eating breakfast every morning at a restaurant with a view over the ocean (I had the local specialties, while my boyfriend had a more typical american breakfast) Greek night - dancing around to Greek music while plates were smashed around us :) Sailing out on the little boats on the beach The spa - very relaxing, not at all expensive, and we actually had the whole thing to ourselves. Playing pool outside the main lobby, and playing cards on the roof terrace of one of the restaurants while drinking their pina coladas (the little store at the resort even had a poker set). Just walking around the resort together - it is so beautiful, and very romantic, even though it is a family resort. The food was very good, there were plenty of restaurants to choose from - and you could get something to eat at almost any time. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we did not lack any assistance during the trip. We are so excited to be going back next month! :)More
Lovely Hotel & Fantastic Time
This was out first visit, but we have already booked to return this year. Our trip was in August 2015, and we had a fantastic time. The facilities are very very good, the rooms bright and clean. The whole complex has a really friendly atmosphere - both during the day and night. There is a wide choice of food and drinks at a number of venues. My son had a great time in the pools and the beach really is brilliant for diving or snorkelling - the marine wildlife is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially the staff manning the bars and snack bars. Highly recommend a visit.More
So good we have booked again for our 5th visit!
We first visited Nana Beach in August 2008 and since then every 2 years we have been back! We have booked to come again this year in July! When we first came here our daughter was 8 years old and we didn't really know what to expect. The kids club was/is amazing for the children and the adults as she had an amazing time doing different activities everyday, giving us some quiet time to relax by the pool. Also she made friends with another child who introduced us to his parents who we are now amazing friends with and return with them to this hotel every two years. With them now both teenagers they really enjoy all the different activities on offer such as tennis, football, water sports and much more! The animation team every visit have always been friendly, occasionally joining us for drinks and having water fights in the pool! There is a wide variety of food on offer which is good as our friends who we travel with are vegan and vegetarian. Every night there is fresh meat/fish cooking by the chefs along with the usual pizza, pasta, chips etc. The salad and fruit is beautiful as its fresh and tastes so much better than the stuff at home in the UK. The Greek, Italian and fish resturant are also equally as nice as it makes a change from the normal resturants but make sure you book in advance to secure a table. We always eat at the resturant down by the beach as its less crowded, the dress code is not applied there and the main reason, you can watch the sun go down while looking across the beach with a glass of red wine! Throughout the day there is drinks, ice-cream, chips, hot dogs etc available and slushies down at the beach bar which are really refreshing. The midnight snack bar is a great idea for when you get a bit peckish at night and fancy some chips or pasta. We have come to know the staff very well, too many to name them, but they are all extremely friendly, helpful and polite despite their tough working conditions. The rooms, since our first visit, have defiantely been improved and updated making them feel a lot more modern and bright. The grounds of the hotel are always beautiful! Constantly surrounded by bright flowers and greenery that are maintained excellently by the gardeners. The hotel is also always kept clean, with the rooms being cleaned everyday. The cleaners do an excellent job and always say good morning to you. The pools are amazing with a wide variety to chose from suiting anyone as there is a children's pool, adults pool, main pool with music playing and the others which are more quiet. The beach is lovely and well kept. i highly recommend snorkelling as there is a huge variety of fish! The water sports staff are extremely friendly and ever visit we always go on the banana boat as its so much fun, especially for the kids! Last time we visited in 2014 we tried out parasailing which has an incredible experience which i highly recommend! The entertainment is good although we haven't seen a show in a couple of years now as our kids have grown up. However the Greek night is always nice to watch with the dancers performing traditional Greek dancers, getting everyone involved dancing around the pool and smashing plates! The disco is always a big hit with us, dancing with everyone learning the new routines the animation team always manage to teach us. However it is shame it ends around about midnight but I understand its a family hotel so it needs to be quiet for the younger children. The local area is beautiful and we always discover something new! A walk into Stalis along the seafront is nice as there are shops and restaurants there which are welcoming. I recommend a trip to Koutoulafari by taxi at night/early evening as there are some lovely shops there and really nice restaurants. The bus stop is just at the end of the hotel drive so this is incredibly handy for getting the bus to places, which are all air conditioned and don't cost much. There are so many beautiful places you can visit, just ask the rep for nice places to go! The waterpark is good fun, especially for children and teens. I know people complain about the wifi but its nice for a week or two to not be constantly connected to everything so you can really enjoy and relax. I love the way this hotel treats returning guests with a repeaters meal and additional bonuses. But also everything about this hotel just keeps me coming back every other year! since our first visit in 2008 this hotel has improved but its kept its quirky charm and greek feel. I'm really looking forward to our trip this year in July.More
