Great relaxing holiday - Some things to be aware of!
On the night we arrived we were very please with the check in, quick and friendly. We arrived around 11 got some food and drinks before heading to the room at around 00.30. Our room was situated on the 1st floor of the main building overlooking the rear of the hotel, it was nice spacious and clean however it was interlinking with the room next door (obviously that door was locked), this is where the 1st problem arose - The people staying in the room next to us got back in around 2am, not being noisy and speaking at normal volume it sounded very much as though next door were in the room with us and we got hardly any sleep what so ever that night! First thing the next morning we complained to the reception to which their initial reply was "But they are English too?", which was beyond the point completely (and incorrect as we are actually from Wales). However they did move us into one of the bungalows (609) around the side in the afternoon. Again the bungalow was very clean although not as spacious as the original room, but much quieter at least! I did however find the bed pretty uncomfortable and woke up with a bad back on a couple of mornings (I'm only 25, that shouldn't be right!). The grounds themselves were well kept, clean and not over crowded, there were no problems getting sun loungers (we often stayed by the main pool) and plenty of things to do. The entertainment team were great and would often make the effort to stop and talk to people however they were covering a big site. The beach and rocky areas by the sea were fantastic and part of the beach was protected by a bit of a barrage for safer swimming. Food wise there was often plenty of choice in the main buffet restaurant however the a la carte options were a con as they served pretty much the same thing you would get in the buffet restaurant anyway, we went for the Italian option and it was severely disappointing as it was exactly the same Italian food they served in the buffet (over a few different nights) but served in this restaurant all on the same night. We had to leave without eating most of it as it was poorly cooked and the restaurant itself was unbearably hot, there was no ventilation at all and the staff were on the ends of their tethers. You can tell the restaurant was awful when the staff were afraid to ask anyone "how is your meal?". The drinks themselves were ok, the beer was fairly nice and a decent choice of soft drink and cocktails. Things to do wise there were plenty of sports and games to take part in, we used the gym and the Spa (although not all of the Spa equipment was working). The entertainment team organise a lot of the activities however you can use tennis courts etc yourself. The reps were very handy when we asked for some tips on a night out, we caught a taxi to koutouloufari for about 8 euros the one night for a change of scene and a meal out at a place one of the reps suggested (well worth doing!). we then walked down the hill into Herssonisos for a few drinks in the livelier bars. I'd recommend it as a night out if Malia is sounding too wild for you. The only day trip we did was to the island of Spinalonga, we through Thomson so we got an organised trip with a tour guide however we don't think that there was enough time spent on the island itself. You could do that cheaper if you could the bus to Agios Nikolos and then into Elounda if you plan it well enough. The one other downside to the holiday was the airport which is out of the Hotel's hands of course, so I am not counting that in my rating - I've been to a few Greek airports but Heraklion is a whole other level of chaos! Overall it was a great chilled out holiday for the most part of it, great weather in that area in September this year - However the hotel does have it's faults and is not a proper 5* although that's what they've been rated as which is a bit cheeky! More like a 4*.More

Good but definately not 5 star
We visited this hotel beginning of September. On arrival we were allocated our room and taken by golf cart along with our luggage. Was very disappointed as given a ground floor room (after emailing ahead with a request for first floor) this was like a cave, very dark, as it had a tree across balcony and we had to have light on all the time. This was rectified the following day when we asked to be moved, we were then given a first floor room in which we had day light. Rooms were kept clean but have seen better. I personally think rooms were pretty ordinary have definitely had a lot better. Food was fine. Must admit found it a little difficult some evenings to find something and I'm not a fussy eater. You definitely need to like pork and veal. We tried Greek restaurant which was very nice. They made my sister, who is vegetarian a special meal as there were no choices on menu. Staff very friendly. Also tried Italian which was a lovely meal but found it difficult to enjoy as air con was broke on that particular night The entertainment we only visited twice and found this to be good. This was our choice not to go as preferred a quiet drink in Panorama Bar. Bar staff very good, all worked very well until Russians arrived and didn't understand the concept of queuing. We used the quieter pool, which suited us. If you want the games etc go to large pool. Always plenty of sun loungers whatever time you went. This also applies to the beach. The childrens pool and club looked very good although we didn't use this facility. The Thomson reps were very friendly always ready for a chat, but truthfully don't think they knew too much as they hadn't been in the resort very long. Couple of things we asked about getting around and found them to be different when we did them., Did a few trips, which are expensive but enjoyed them. Recommend the jeep safari a brilliant day and had a great driver. Make sure you visit the cave, its hard work but worth it. The lunch meal was probably the best ever had on one of these trips and done quite a few over the years. Also did Spinalonga and shopping trip, enjoyed by all. We also used bus service at top of drive to go into Hersonissos, easy and cheap to use. Did this a few times. Went on the 'Happy Train' it passed a few hours and enabled us to see some of the surrounding areas We had a nice holiday. But wont be going back. Not sure how the hotel will get its Thomson Platinium status unless they are doing something to it over he closed season.More
Not 4 or 5*
Arrived 2nd September 2014 for two weeks with my husband. Can't remember our room number but it was either 667 or 677. On arrival after completing the usual paperwork we were given our keys and taken to our room in a golf Kart. Our room was on the ground floor and my first impression was it is very basic. The welcome meeting by Thomson was the usual hard sell and I was shocked to discover the charge of almost £70 per person for the day trip to Spinalonga Island. We got a bus outside the hotel to Ag Nik, ferry from there was 15euros per person for the day trip including BBQ and there was a 2euro charge per person to get onto the island. The same trip costing 25euros per person, a massive mark up by Thomsons!! We used public transport to get around the island as it was cheap and reliable. After the first nights sleep we noticed that the beds were not like normal twin beds that you can push together, each bed had a wooden frame which made it impossible to push the beds together. I spoke to the receptionist concerning this and she said they would try to do something about it. When we returned to our room later the sheets on the beds had been changed and put on long ways to make it look like the beds were joined but they were still in the same position in the wooden bases. I spoke to the Thomson rep concerning this and she said that the hotel was full and she prob wouldn't be able to do anything about this but would certainly speak to the hotel and let us know the outcome. I am still waiting for a response. The bathroom was not the cleanest with mould along the bottom of the shower screen and round most of the bath, we also had a problem with ants in the bathroom. We tried to remain positive and enjoy our holiday as the facilities available in the hotel were fantastic, several pools, ampitheatres, nice gardens, very pleasent staff etc. The hotel has lots of lougers round the pools, at the beach and on the waterfront. You could go out in the morning, come back, have lunch then have your choice of lounger (there are not many hotels you can do this in). The food in the hotel was very repetitive with pork availalbe at least twice at each meal. By the end of our two weeks I was dreading going to the buffet restaurant to try and make a meal out of what was available. Not what I would expect for what we paid for this holiday. We used the Italian Restuarant and Greek Restaurant twice. Whilst it was nice to be served and eat our meal together the quality was very unimpressive and both restuarants only had wine and beer so if you don't drink either of these (which I don't) the only option is water. We did have a lovely holiday but unfortunately we feel that this hotel is missing basics to make it a four star. We would not return to this hotel but would definitely return to Crete as there is lots to see and do and the people were so nice!!More

Good choice for families
Lots of children and teenagers, not British because of the school restrictions but October is half term in many other countries, it is a great place for kids and they all seemed to be having a wonderful time. If you are just a couple seeking a bit of quiet luxury then maybe this hotel is not for you although there is a pool for adults only and its quiet down by the rocks for sunbathing. Our room was fine (225) but there was an interconnecting door and the lady the other side had a cold, we heard every cough, sneeze and nose blow! The doors need some kind of soundproofing, we wondered what they heard from us and found ourselves tiptoeing around a lot.More

Good, but didn't meet my expectations
First, I want to say that it is my first time in the "all inclusive" hotel. May be I expected too much. But I was disspainted, when I dicovered, that "all inclusive" doesn't mean, that it includes everything, what I WANT, but what they decided to give only. The greate dissapointment were: no fresh fruites, cocktails and vegetables in the snach bars, just junk (Hallo, it's not trendy yet!). I didn't know that there is breackfast, lunch and dinner time, I thought that I can come in any time and eat. Hour before the end of the eating time in the dining room they start to clean and close, not so nice, to come half an hour before the end and to see, that there is almost no food. Family hotel, about half of the guests are with stollers, and there are stairs everywhere! In order to path without the stairs you should take a long round trip. Even in order to enter our room, we had 7 stairs (with no round way), my husband should raise the stroller 20 times in a day up and down the stairs. No coffe, sugar, tee and kettle in the room. If you want to drink something, you should go far away to the snack bar, or central bar in the evening. We had very nice view on the balcony (sea view room) but in the evening when the children are sleeping it was too sad to sit on the balcony near the empty table. even if we were go to the bar and bring the coffee, it will come cold due to the long way. Also on the site they wrote wree wifi, but it wasn't at all. just to buy card and use. Things that I liked: very good territory, no dogs and cats roam free. Clean and nice. Good children playground. A lot of pools, so there is no feeling of load in the pool. If you come in a time to the dining room, a lot of food, very good quality, excellent. Nice beach, nice clean room.More
