Hotel Nana Beach

With 5 pools, 5 restaurants and 2 private coves, the numbers really add up at this whitewashed hotel.

At this bumper hotel, whitewashed buildings step down through bougainvillea-filled gardens towards 2 private coves. On the way, there’s a selection box of swimming pools.

This place doesn’t stint on anything. For a start, it’s got 5 restaurants. Then there’s the huge checklist of bars. And activity-wise, the hotel lays on everything from archery to canoeing.

Little Greek Village

This is a well designed complex which enables you to have a quiet relaxing holiday if that's what you like, but there are also pools with music and activities. It is like a small Greek village that won best village award! So clean and beautiful. ALL staff work extremely hard to uphold the ethos that "Quality of Service" is the key to success. Tables were quickly re-laid at meal times, bar staff prompt and efficient service, knowledgeable and friendly reception staff and great entertainment team. The way the complex is designed means that almost every room would have a different view. Some are clearly garden only whilst many are garden/pool and sea. We paid for a sea view but our initial room in the main hotel unfortunately looked directly out on a building, only able to see the sea by going out onto the balcony. This had not been described as a side sea view and basically meant that in your room there was no view at all. When you consider how many rooms do have a direct sea view this was very upsetting. As the hotel was full we were unable to move rooms straight away but the reception very kindly found us a waterfront room for all but the first 3 days of our stay. This was a wonderful suite. Several other English guests were allocated unsatisfactory rooms initially. It is difficult to assess exactly what you are paying for room/sea view wise until you get there and this aspect is my only concern. Meals were ok with fresh salads and interesting desserts but it was very repetitive. There was nothing I really hoped would be repeated. Fridges with bottles of wine in restaurant and you just helped yourself. Good range of cocktails but you had to buy water from mini market. WiFi quite expensive but good, we paid 10euro for 200 mins although there were different options. Buses good, remember to buy your return ticket before getting bus. We would recommend as we had a lovely holiday and just couldn't fault the wonderful staff. (difficult to rate rooms though as they are so varied).More

4th Visit and looking forward to returning in 2015

The hotel is in a beautiful setting and the whole family from grandparents to grandson had a thoroughly enjoyable time, whether it was sunbathing, playing water polo, football, archery or just enjoying a quiet drink reading a book in the shade. The food was very pleasant and everyone enjoyed the afternoon cakes!! Only downside was the red wine in the fridge !! The staff on the whole were extremely helpful and courteous. Our rooms were clean and tidy & in a quiet location, although to be honest the hotel never appears to be particularly noisy. Bonus this year as we have never been at the end of August before was Sky & BT sport in a corner of one of the bars. Happy to recommend this HotelMore

Perfect hotel at a Perfect Location

We stayed Nana Beach at Mid October 2014 and just as the title implies—it was a pleasant surprise. We really didn't expect a resort of such level at Crete which isn't paradise when it comes to accommodation and tourism. I personally find nothing special about Crete, it's just another island like so many others and that's why it's so important to stay at a high level resort which is what we found Nana Beach to be. The Good 1. Resort is clean and well maintained—4 (or 5?) pools, a main beach and some other rocky sea niches. Everything was spotless and well maintained. 2. Service—the vast majority of hosts were welcoming and helpful. They give excellent customer service and looks like they really care about the guests. 3. Food is amazing – Best food I've ever had on a vacation. Huge variety of food available from sunlight to midnight. I cannot imagine someone complaining about the food. 4. Bar – for an all inclusive resort, the bar was fantastic. Don't expect 12y/o whiskey, but I believe anyone can find something to drink. 5. The room we had was great, clean and big. The bed was incredible! *but read the negative comments below for more about rooms. The Bad: 1. Water at the pools were freezing—I think they should at least consider to warm up the water at the main pool. We luckily had great weather but I wasn't pleasant get into the water. The Ugly: 1. Room – We were initially given a room at the main building. I have to say that the room was just bad. It's nothing you'd want to have on a supposedly 5 star resort. The room was small, dark and had a shower only which is unacceptable for a 5 star resort. We actually had a misunderstanding with the travel agent and were supposed to have sea view room. We presented that to the staff and they generously moved us to a much, much better room. Like I wrote above—the customer care is just unbelievable—they actually did us a favor upgrading our room because the problem we had was due to a liar agent and nothing to do with them. -- The location is great—just outside the turmoil and "ugly" tourist area, but not too far. If you want nightlife then you will need a car in order to travel to Heraklion which is very nice at nighttime. It was actually packed with local and some tourist people at night (Bars and clubs)—another pleasant surprise for mid October being "offseason". It's a 25 minute drive from the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone— being a couple at a honeymoon, friends just on a vacation and certainly families—it should work for anyone.... I'm really happy we went there!More

Second time around and still good

Returned to Nana Beach again after a holiday there with friend and daughters last May, this time I went with just my husband to relax and wind down. Hotel definitely as good as before and staff still helpful and friendly. Our room was not as good as before but was clean and in a good position, near to Pool and close to the amphitheater, the noise from this at night wasn't a problem as it finished at a decent time, although in the busy months the bar noise nearby would be! Food was good but could be hotter, working plate warmers would help.We did enjoy the repeat guests gala dinner, gifts and the promise of rewards when booking again, and will probably return again. As other guests mentioned the British were in the minority and the Germans definitely seem to get preferential treatment this didn't bother us.My husband did have to tell one German lady that there was a que and to get in it! Maybe if more people stood up to them, myself included, they wouldn't do it. Just a few minor niggles ie- safe should be free on an all inclusive, bottled water should always be available free and the towel swap times should be earlier in the morning or later at night.TV in room ok but froze quite a lot on the main English Channel. As in another review our shower screen was engrained where it meets the base and could have done with a good scrub!! As I've said earlier these are minor faults which are easily rectified if taken notice of and would not put me of returning again. Overall it is a good, clean, friendly hotel in a wonderful setting with decent food and plenty of sun beds around pools, beach and terraces.I came home relaxed, brown and quite abut fatter.More

Relaxing holiday ,nice hotel by the sea

Lovely hotel and food with very helpful staff especially Kostas at reception, who made our stay very enjoyable, and a big thank you to both Thomson reps at the resort.. The only downside is the Germans jumping quies at the restaurant and the bars and no attempt by staff is made to stop them.More
