Visit Zante Town's Venetian castle ruins and St Mark's Square. Admire breathtaking views from Strani Hill or sail to the mainland to see Olympia, historic birthplace of the Olympics, and climb to the top of Athens' ancient Acropolis.

Beaches

Zante boasts some of Greece's best beaches, several of which are favourite nesting grounds for loggerhead turtles. Some of the most striking are Laganas, an expanse of golden sand stretching all the way to Kalamaki, and Alykes. Drive from Argassi to Gerakas, on the south-eastern tip, for the most beautiful shores.

Lazy Day Cruise

With rest and relaxation on tap, this lazy boat ride is perfect for exploring Zante's southern shores. You'll pass beautiful sun-kissed beaches and visit the famous Keri Caves, and you may even spot one of Zante's famous loggerhead turtles.

Island Tour
Travel through traditional villages and olive groves on this journey of legend, myth and discovery. A fully guided tour, you will also have opportunities to purchase locally produced goods such as embroidery, lacework, pottery, honey and rugs.

Olympia
Set sail for the mainland, as you are transported back 3,000 years to the birthplace of the Olympic Games. An historical site, Ancient Olympia once held the great Temple of Zeus, with the original Olympic track so well preserved you can even run a lap.

Food and drink

A number of regional specialities, including various local wines, will entice the most discerning taste buds to Zante. The cuisine tends to be more traditional in the north, while all tastes are catered for in the south. Highly recommended is traditional Greek Souvlaki, delicious kebabs served with rice and pitta bread, and Moussaka. Those with a sweet tooth should try Mandolato, mouth-watering nougat.

Partygoers flock to Laganas, where the bustling activity in the restaurants, bars and discos goes on into the early hours. Soak up the traditional atmosphere in the popular tavernas and restaurants of Kalamaki, Tsilivi, Alykes and Alikanas, or enjoy the sunset from Kampi's amazing cliff-edge restaurants.

Shopping

Zante Town enjoys a mixture of neoclassical and Venetian style buildings, housing a variety of shops and boutiques. For a more traditional experience, clusters of shops can be found in some of the smaller villages. You can browse for jewellery, antiques and leather goods as well as handwoven embroideries and artefacts made from carved olive wood.
