Holidays to Ortakent take you to a quiet beach town on Turkey's Bodrum peninsula. Here you'll find great food and a Blue Flag beach, with glitzy Bodrum Town just 10 kilometres away.

Far from the madding crowd

This quiet little beach town enjoys a central location on the Bodrum peninsula, making it a great base for exploring the area. It’s pretty, too – some of the distinctive tower houses here date back to the 17th century. You’ll also find lush gardens filled with fig, olive and mandarin trees. And when you want to up the tempo, the livelier town of Bodrum is just 10 kilometres away.

A Blue Flag beach

The beach might be three kilometres from town, but the local dolmus bus will get you there in just a few minutes. When you arrive you’ll find a long, broad strip of golden sand, dotted with loungers and umbrellas. There’s a beachfront prom lined with cafés and restaurants, many of which are happy to serve you at your lounger.

Near Bodrum Town

A 20-minute drive gets you to the region’s capital Bodrum, a hive of culture and shopping, with nightlife that’s louder than Istanbul’s. There’s lots to explore – a Museum of Underwater Archaeology tucked inside a 15th-century castle, bustling souks and laid-back meze places. If you’re staying on, Bar Street – which starts behind the castle – has got some of the biggest nightclubs in Turkey.
