Experience two types of cities for the price of one on a city break to Bergamo.

City breaks to Bergamo

This place is a two-for-one city break, made up of Citta Alta (upper city) and Citta Bassa (lower city), both connected by the funicular and contrasting in their offerings. Citta Alta is full of cobbled streets and winding alleys, with its beating heart at the centre – Piazza Vecchia. This former Roman Forum now a buzzing square to congregate with friends at one of the restaurants and cafés. Citta Bassa is the more modern of the two, where you can visit attractions like Museo Bernareggi (a gallery of sacred art and objects) and Santa Lucia Church.

Best time to go to Bergamo

Bergamo benefits from warm weather for most of the year – the months between April and October are the warmest on average, reaching the thirties in the height of summer and have the least amount of rain. Although, these months attract the crowds so if you’d rather avoid the rush, plan your trip in March when the temperature is still comfortable – averaging mid-teens – but the city is less crowded.
