Stroll along the banks of the Danube

Budapest’s famous river is a hotspot for sightseers. The promenade gives you picture-ready views of the Elisabeth and Szechenyi chain bridges, as well as the pleasing-on-the-eye parliament building. Impressive architecture aside, you can take a guided tour inside this spired masterpiece to see the country’s crown jewels. You’ll also walk past more poignant sights, like the Shoes on the Danube memorial. The 60 pairs of steel sculpted shoes scattered along the riverbank represent the Jews shot here during World War Two.
