Head back through history in Kazimierz
Kazimierz used to be an independent city, but these days it’s very much a part of Krakow, and one of its most-trodden parts. Centuries-old synagogues – such as the aptly named Old Synagogue – are a big tourist pull in the city’s Jewish Quarter. And the shops and bars that line its walkways take you back in time – they’re tucked behind wooden shutters and look as if they’ve been pulled from a set of a wartime film. There’s also a duo of museums here – the Ethnographic Museum and the Museum of Urban Engineering. The latter is housed inside a late 19th-century tram depot
